About the Author

For over 20 years, Paul Tuttobene has built a reputation successfully introducing new and innovative products to the market. After graduating from St. John Fisher College in 1985, Mr. Tuttobene worked in sales and marketing positions for two Fortune 500 companies before attending the University of Rochester’s Simon School of Business.

While skiing during Winter Break, Mr. Tuttobene met one of the owners of a small manufacturers’ representative firm in Rochester, New York. Bored with graduate school and intrigued by the firm and the opportunity they offered, he dropped out of school and started working for the firm, selling mostly OEM components to engineers.

After a year of on-the-job training with the rep firm, Mr. Tuttobene quit to start PLT Associates in 1989 at the age of 25. This new rep firm would concentrate on representing small to medium sized companies looking to market new products and processes or existing technologies to new markets. By asking only for a commission on the new sales brought to the companies it represented, PLT Associates became the ideal platform for small companies introducing innovations to the market.

PLT Associates has since evolved into a full-service marketing and sales organization serving a select clientele. As president of PLT Associates, Mr. Tuttobene has been involved in introducing dozens of new products and processes to several different markets worldwide. He has been awarded three U.S. patents in the areas of compressible fluid devices and sporting goods. Mr. Tuttobene was also a member of the team (with Taylor Devices, Inc., WSP Cantor Seinuk, Enrique Martinez Romaro, SA, and SUNY-Buffalo) that won the 2005 CERF Charles J. Pankow Award for Innovation.

Mr. Tuttobene lives and works outside of Rochester, New York, with his wife and two daughters.
